Design: Philippe Starck for Flos
Concept:
Flos Lounge Gun floor lamp designed in 2005 by Philippe Starck and part of the very sensational Lounge Gun series. The body of the lamp is built over the design of an M16 rifle, which for many years has been the rifle of choice in the US military. Philippe Starck uses the lamp as a political statement where the point is that weapons do not create war, but people do. For the same reason, 20% of the turnover from these lamps goes to Frere d'homme, which then donates the money to charities around the world focusing on children's conditions. The lamp is available in 18 carat gold and in chrome, both with a black lampshade.
