The Gubi Semi series is an icon of Danish lighting design and a striking example of how geometric precision can be combined with lightness and elegance. The lamp's characteristic shape arises from the fusion of two quarter circles placed back to back, creating a graphic, floating silhouette with a clear architectural expression that appears both sculptural and balanced in the room. The enameled metal shade is carefully designed to emit a soft, diffused light in a cone shape, which provides pleasant and functional lighting conditions over the dining table, kitchen work surfaces and in social zones, where mood and function must be combined into a higher unity.

The design dates back to 1968 and was created by Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup as a conscious confrontation with the soft, organic design language of the time, with the ambition to introduce a lamp characterized by sharp lines and rigorous geometry. The result was an award-winning pendant that quickly achieved international recognition and in the 1980s became one of the best-selling Danish design lamps ever. Today, Gubi Semi stands as a timeless design icon, which with its architectural clarity and versatility works just as naturally in private homes as in restaurants, offices and public environments, where it adds light, character and design-historical weight to the space.
