SCANDINAVIAN MINIMALISM
Scandinavian decor is known all over the world.
A simple expression with organic and clear lines. Functionality and simple aesthetics is key in this trend and it sells the idea of a more simple lifestyle.
In a modernized consumer society, it can be very freeing with products that are honest and straightforward.
Lighting is important when it comes to the Scandinavian interior design style. When the Nordic winter comes, the light around us is crucial and therefore lamp design and light quality are highly valued in Scandinavian minimalism.
Several manufacturers on our webshop pay homage to the Scandinavian minimalist movement.

It takes a large amount of patience to find the right things that will suit your home, but exploring classic designs will be a huge trend in 2021.
Design classics from the middle of the 20th century (1940-1970) have made a huge comeback, where teak wood, brass and good craftsmanship are celebrated in several Scandinavian homes.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
Industrial design is all about highlighting the parts of the design, that is usually hidden away.
The idea is to add an unpolished expression to a room, to create a specific atmosphere.
Industrial design emphasizes idea, design, dissemination and function. The actual function of a product is just as important as the style and appearance and industrial design is a growing trend that pays homage to classic materials such as wood and metal.
This is especially seen in workshops and factories, where practical design and clear angles are essential to see what you are doing.
Many things can be associated with industrial design, some objects are very raw, where wear and rust is only better for the overall look and then there is the more simplistic and polished styles, which still embrace the raw lines of industrial design.
At
AndLight
, we have a large selection of lamps in industrial design.
A beautiful example of a popular industrial lamp that paved the way from factories to private homes is
the workshop lamp
from Made By Hand.
A well-known and beloved lamp, that you can find in AndLight's webshop in a multitude of colors, so you are guaranteed to find a workshop lamp that works with your interior.
Another brand that masters the industrial design is
Lampe Gras
.
This brand has been making beautiful architectural lamps since 1922, where the use of metal tubes is constant throughout most of the series and where emphasis is placed on the lamp's functions at each joint and each screw.
Especially the
N304
,
N222
and the
N302
are some of the most popular Lampe Gras lamps on
AndLight.com
.
The Lampe Gras lamps are also available in a large selection of colors.
Lamps such as the
Schottlander Mantis series
and the
Arigato series
from
Grupa products
are good examples of lamps with an industrial expression, which also embrace the elegant and modern aspect.
The combination of raw functionality and minimalist elegance makes the lamps fit beautifully into a multitude of different spaces.
Due to the clean lines and monochrome colors, these lamps do not seem overwhelming in a room but instead create a beautiful balance to the interior design.
The Arigato series from Grupa products consists of a variety of different lamps, such as a table lamp, a double floor lamp, an ordinary floor lamp,
double ceiling light
,
ordinary ceiling light
,
a pendant
and a wall lamp.
The entire series is available in either black or white.
The Mantis series from Schottlander consists of

a table lamp
,
a ceiling light

The series is based on adjustability and weight to create the perfect mobile sculpture. The Mantis lamps are available in
black/green and black.
MELTED CURVES
Soft curves are currently a big hit in home design. We see it in armchairs, sofas, tables and especially lamps.
The round shapes look beautiful in a home environment, as they have a lightness to them, which gives new life to any room.
You can get lamps in all shapes, colors and materials and especially metals have become very popular in recent years.
One producer who really understands metals and fun shapes is
Tom Dixon.
Tom Dixon masters the design of special, shiny and extravagant lamps in all kinds of geometric shapes and materials.
It is worth mentioning the super popular series,
Melt
, which has given curves and shapes in home design a whole new meaning.
TOM DIXON MELT
The organic forms are what is in sharp focus in the Melt lamp series.
The luminous expression is something that is seen recurring in many of Tom Dixon's uncompromising designs and this lamp series are no exception.
The Melt series, with its soft, reflective and interesting expression, has gained incredible popularity in the lamp market worldwide.
Tom Dixon makes a lot of use of a material called polycarbonate, which is used for the Melt series, as well as many other of his lamps.
The polycarbonate is treated with thermoplastic, which can be bent and modulated into different shapes at a certain temperature and then becomes solid and completely robust, when cooled.
The flexible material is therefore often used by Tom Dixon for his many different lamps, which push the creative boundaries of lamp design.
The Melt series has the elegant and soft light which comes from the reflective modern metallic color that has triumphed on the housing market.
This lamp series has a transparent warm glow when the lamps are switched on, which helps to make the lamps very special.
Tom Dixon achieved this very special effect by using a vacuum metallization method. During the use of this method, the metal has been heated, and then applied as a top layer.
The heated metal is introduced into a vacuum, which then sprays an ultra-thin layer of metal on the shade, which results in the transparent glow, when the lamp is turned on.
SPIRALS
Spirals are clearly trending in the lamp market and this can also be seen on our website where
spirals in birch, cherry wood, walnut wood, aluminum, plastic and copper adorn our showroom.
There is something harmonious about the soft shape of the spirals and how they scatter the light around.
At the same time, spirals can also radiate passion due to the dramatic rotations and curves, which can also give off a sensual expression .
Dreizehngrad's
Swing lamp series and
Tom Rossau's
TR series manage to bring out the special curves
and emits a warm light which gives any room a homely and soft feel.
All spiral lamps can be set up in many kinds of rooms and they are definitely worth a look.
INNOVATIVE LAMPS IN POLYCARBONATE
Polycarbonate has become an essential part of the lamp industry's preferred materials, due to its many shaping and dyeing options. Polycarbonate can be made in a completely clear casting, which makes it ideal for lighting where maximum light flow in the material is desired. Polycarbonate places almost no restrictions on designers, as the material can be cast and processed in a myriad of ways. Especially in lighting, this has led to a large number of innovative products, which have shifted the norm for what is possible to design and mass produce. Especially the possibilities for coloring the material, have given designers rich opportunities to create an expression and a mood that no other material allows.
The material has long been loved and used for the development of magnificent products, by many great designers and design houses.
Italian Kartell, is a good example of a design house, which is built around the incorporation of polycarbonate in the majority of their designs and products. Kartell knows how to live in the material and push its properties to the extreme.
Tom Dixon and
Flos are also highly notable producers, both of which have a myriad of trend-setting products where polycarbonate is a fundamental part of both the universe and expression. One of our bestsellers at AndLight is Tom Dixon's
Melt pendant, whose sculptural expression completely changes character depending on whether there is light in the lamp or not.
At AndLight , we are pleased to welcome in 2021 even more delicious products made of polycarbonate. Below you can find out more about news from Flos, Kartell and Foscarini.
FLOS BON JOUR
It is increasingly difficult to mention
Flos , without also mentioning the French design and architecture icon Philippe Starck.
Once again, the synergy between the two constellations has resulted in a unique and innovative product line.
Flos Bon Jour and
Flos Bon Jour Unplugged are the names of the two new exciting table lamps. Bon Jour combines in a nice way, the simple and light expression, with the more daring and playful. The series is made of polycarbonate, which enables the very simple and almost invisible lamp body.
Bon Jour's LED lightbulb is dimmable from 10-100%, and throws light up towards the top of the lamp's core, which is distributed throughout the shade.
Put your own mark on your new Bon Jour Lamp. The top of the lamp is available in 4 beautiful colors: white, chrome, copper or the stylish matt chrome. In addition to this you can choose between 6 different shade colors: transparent, yellow, gold, fabric, amber and natural.
THE KARTELL PLANET
Japanese Tokujin Yoshioka, is the man behind Kartell's fantastic
new product series
Planet . Tokujin is a master at understanding the possibilities of polycarbonate, as well as the exploitation of its transparency, and this is certainly not the first time Kartell and Tokujin have entered into a collaboration. Tokujin has designed significant products for
Kartell , but this is the first time he has delivered a lighting project.
The planet comes as three different lamp types, respectively a low and high table lamp, as well as a pendant. The three types come in three different expressions, gold, transparent or smoked.
The central and very complex crystal-like lampshade is made from polycarbonate and creates a completely adventurous throw of light into the room. Due to its many polygons, the crystal-like shade gives the room a special mood, because the light is reflected in all directions.
The combination of the breathtaking lampshade, and (on the high table model), polished aluminum foot provides a hugely refined and elegant atmosphere, wherever it is placed. The Planet series must be said to be mood lighting as it does not emit a work- or reading-friendly light, but can be used in all kinds of rooms.
FOSCARINI CABOCHE
Caboche is not a definite novelty as the design by Patricia Urquiola and Eliana Gerotto is originally from 2005. However,
Foscarini has recently spent a lot of energy updating the romantic and characteristic series, so today it can be chosen with LED light sources, which still gives the same mood and light reflection as it was originally intended with halogen lightbulbs.
The outer shade of the lamp, consisting of small "balls", is actually not produced from polycarbonate but instead polymethylmethacrylate, which is related to polycarbonate.
In everyday speech, polymethylmethacrylate is better known as acrylic or plexiglass. This material is more similar in appearance to traditional glass than polycarbonate, as the purity and thus the transparency of the material is better. The lightbulb is surrounded by mouth-blown opal glass, which in the most beautiful way softens the light's reflection. When the light hits the acrylic screen, it casts the most beautiful and very decorative light around the room it is placed in. The shade causes the light to be reflected most strongly upwards and downwards. Caboche is therefore a pendant , ideal as a dining table lamp, as you cannot look directly into the lightbulb.
Caboche is available in many variations, which provide ample opportunity to create exactly the expression you want in your home. The pendant can be interpreted as Foscarini's answer to the modern chandelier and is available in three sizes as halogen and two as LED. Use one large lamp over your dining table, for example, or use two of the smaller sizes and distribute the light over the entire dining table. There is also ample opportunity to combine different sizes and hang them as a cluster in a corner or in the hallway, and really create a highly decorative installation.
In addition, in the Caboche-series you will find a floor lamp in two sizes, a table lamp, two sizes of wall lamps and of course the beautiful ceiling light and pendant. All variations are available both in the crystal clear expression, as well as the more golden and warm "amber color", both of which can create their own very special expression.
