Designed by Charlotte Perriand for her mountain chalet Le Vieux Matelot, the Applique Cylindrique is a design that dates back to the early 1930s. Her interest in swivel shades reflects her observations of human movement: a simple push allows the lampshade to be adjusted and the light beam to be directed, so that both intensity and direction can be adapted as needed.
